The restaurant table reservation applications may not be in the mainstream for now, but the Big Fish Ventures is taking its chance by launching its app in the mobile commerce space. The application is named Big Fish and is available for free over Google Play and iTune’s App store for iPhone.
The application was launched at an event held at The Junkyard Cafe, Connaught Place, New Delhi, today. Surprisingly, the unveiling was done by none other than Kangna Ranaut, Queen of Bollywood.
Commenting at the launch, Mr. Umang Tewari, the founder of Big Fish Ventures said, “We will bring over 2 lakh customers on our mobile app by the end of 2016 and will be doing one 5000 table reservations per day by June 2016. We plan to invest over 3-4 million dollars over next 3 years.”
He further added, “Most firms are focused on creating single brands with standardised formats like, for example, a McDonald’s or a KFC. We are building a cluster of concept—based different brands across genres and large formats,”
With this application, the Delhi-based startup is aiming to boost its reservations, as it’s making the procedure too easy. You just need to tap on few options, make a selection and the reservation will be done with related details delivered to your smartphone, instantly.
Currently, the Big Fish Ventures runs premium dining lounges, such as The Junkyard Cafe, The Vault Cafe, Cafe Public Connection, Garam Dharam and Bandstand (an Indian dhaba restaurant).
Talking of the application, it offers this premium and easy reservation service through a simple to use and elegant looking application. There are no charges whatsoever to avail this facility, and the consumers will be getting some discounts and freebies on a regular basis.
Moving ahead, the app features a dedicated blog within, named Big Foodie, where regular questionnaires, discussions, recipes and consumer experiences will be shared. This will further tighten the consumer’s interest in the application and will further help the startup to gain more reservations and better ROI.
The company plans to open 40+ similar outlets by FY 2017-18 and to invest over $30 million in building and operating all the outlets under their brand. The startup is expecting to drive $100 million of gross sales by FY 2018-19. Currently, the company has managed to cross sales over $10 million in 2015-16 Fiscal year and is expecting to grow it to at least $30 million in the coming one.
