If you live in Delhi, and rely on Google Maps, for day to day transit-related queries, then here is a good news. As notified in a recent blog entry, Google has released a dedicated app for New Delhi, officially.
Right now, the app is available for the Android platform, and Google is calling it an experimental app. The app is said to be developed from ground zero, to bring better transit details for the residents in the capital city.
Now, you must be thinking that we already have Google Maps, and it works just fine, showcasing every transit details we want. So, the prime reason behind this new app’s existence is that it will help users to look for those details, in a kind of offline environment.
That means the app will showcase the required data, whenever user will ask for, but without using the data. So, you can keep the Android smartphone in total offline mode, and will still be able to get the required information.
Google has also cleared that even if the data connectivity is online, the app will be using very marginal data, equivalent to few KBs. In short, it’s a very impressive move from the Search Engine Giant, and every Delhi resident should install it right away.
You can quickly find Delhi Metro and buses details, their timetables, and travel timings, and even locate their nearest stops on the offline map. The app will even showcase the real-time data, which means you can now know how late will a particular bus will be.
Closing the launch blog post, Google stated that the app is still in its early stage and ask users to submit their feedbacks. So, go ahead guys, start using this app, and if you find any issues, just hit the feedback button and send the issue faced.
Personally, I feel this move is super helpful, and will definitely help. Of course, it will become way powerful with our feedbacks and in future updates.
